Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) provides the LaGuardia Airport (LGA) Security Program. The Technology is the development and implementation of a Transportation Security Administration (TSA)-approved security program that includes physical and electronic measures, tools, and procedures.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey provides World Trade Center Campus Security Assessment, Design, Architectural, and Engineering Services. The Technology consists of security risk assessments and design and architectural/engineering services used to incorporate security-related design features into building designs for the World Trade Center Site as a part of its redevelopment in New York City.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey provides the Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) Tunnel Breach Mitigation System. The Technology consists of security risk assessments and protective design and engineering services used to incorporate security-related design features into protection of critical assets related to the PATH system.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey implements the LaGuardia Airport Security Program through a variety of procedures involving physical and electronic security measures, tools and procedures (the "Technology"). These efforts include development and enforcement of the airport’s security plan, training of police and other security personnel, conducting background checks of airport workers and overseeing security systems.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey provides Articulated Precast Concrete Protective Mat System for Underwater Rail Tunnel Breach Mitigation (“Protective Mat System” or the “Technology”). The Technology is a system of protective mats placed on the riverbed above the Port Authority Trans-Hudson (“PATH”) sub-aqueous rail tunnels. The Technology includes the selection of subcontractors responsible for the manufacturing and implementation of the Technology.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey implements the George Washington Bridge Security Program through a variety of procedures involving physical and electronic security measures, tools, and procedures. These efforts include development and enforcement of the facility’s security plan, training of police and other security personnel, conducting background checks of facility workers and overseeing security systems.
