Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Raytheon Company provides Security Equipment Integration, a set of services which can be used by airports and other transportation facilities for the integration and installation of security equipment for the detection of explosives and other hazards.


Lockheed Martin Corporation: MetroGuard™

Approved: January 02, 2007 | Expires: January 31, 2012

Lockheed Martin Corporation's MetroGuard™, for public facility protection applications, provides an early warning of chemical, biological or radiological agent release through the use of a network of single-point Remote Detector Units (RDU).  The release event is communicated by the RDU to one or more base station control computers which receive and process sensor data for system operators and first responders, thus enabling implementation of response protocols.

Approved: December 20, 2006 | Expires: January 31, 2012

Day & Zimmermann Group, Inc., provides Security Services and Force Protection Operations. These services are intended to protect commercial and government nuclear reservations, government agencies and installations, and high-risk commercial facilities.

The Boeing Company provides Systems Engineering and Integration Services for SBInet Border Security. These system engineering and integration services provide border, infrastructure, facility, and site security solutions for the Federal Secure Border Initiative Network (SBInet) Program.

Raytheon Company provides Secure Border Systems and Services that integrate intelligence with a command and control capability to secure borders. It uses multiple technologies and services to deliver situational awareness to help detect, identify, classify and respond to events.


MindCo, Inc.: MINDS

Approved: December 18, 2006 | Expires: January 31, 2009

MindCo, Inc., provides the MINDS, a security system that monitors the environment for the presence of nuclear spectra. It is designed to detect and identify the presence of radionuclide elements.


Intralox, LLC: Baggage Delivery System

Approved: December 18, 2006 | Expires: November 30, 2011

Intralox, LLC, provides the Baggage Delivery System, which utilizes conveyors, software, control terminals, and hardware controls to convey luggage, cargo containers, postal/parcel freight, break bulk air cargo, or other packages through explosive detection systems, metal detectors, or other detection equipment.


Rapiscan Systems, Inc.: Secure 1000®

Approved: December 18, 2006 | Expires: December 31, 2011

Rapiscan Systems, Inc., provides the Secure 1000®, a non-intrusive personnel screening system designed to detect both metallic and nonmetallic objects (such as ceramic, plastic, metallic, and organic matter, including liquid and solid explosives) concealed under a person's clothing.
