Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Leidos Innovations Corp.

Approved: December 08, 2016 | Expires: November 30, 2021

Leidos Innovations Corporation, provides Dry Filter Unit Systems and Services (DFUS&S) (the “Technology”) The Technology is a blower and filter unit which continuously traps airborne particulate matter for customer analysis. The dry filter unit (DFU) is provided in three configurations: DFU 1000, DFU 2000, and DFU Executive. The Technology also includes support services such as deployment and installation, sample collection and preparation, field maintenance, and training; and, consumable supplies. This Designation will expire on November 30, 2021.


Hamilton Safe Company

Approved: December 08, 2016 | Expires: December 31, 2021

Hamilton Safe Co. and Hamilton Products Group, Inc. provide the Hamilton Entrance Control System (the “Technology”). The Technology is a security vestibule system designed to prevent or delay access to a facility by individuals with firearms. The Technology also averts facility ambush by preventing simultaneous entry by multiple persons while allowing steady traffic flow. The Technology combines weapons detection technology using metal detectors and entry/exit man-trap traffic control of personnel incorporating bullet resistive materials.


AirBoss-Defense Inc.

Approved: November 10, 2016 | Expires: November 30, 2021

AirBoss-Defense Inc. provides Powered and Non-Powered Air Purifying Respirators (the “Technology”). The Technology is a form of personal protective equipment that provides limited respiratory protection against various types of known hazardous particulate matter and vapors. The Technology also includes an operator’s manual, operator training, and maintenance services.


BlastGard International, Inc.

Approved: November 10, 2016 | Expires: November 30, 2021

BlastGard International, Inc. provides BlastWrap® (the "Technology"). The Technology can be deployed to mitigate (i.e., contain) the effects of an explosion or as a protective layer to absorb energy and possibly protect assets from damage caused by an external explosion.


Smiths Detection Inc.

Approved: October 26, 2016 | Expires: November 30, 2021

Smiths Detection, Inc. provides HI-SCAN CCX-RAY (the “Technology”). The Technology is a collection of X-ray inspection systems used to screen cargo and freight packages. The devices use transmission X-ray imaging methodology, together with software-based image analysis, to detect potential threats and present them to the operator through a graphical interface. The Technology also includes software, installation, life cycle support, training, warrantee program, manuals, bulletins, and other communications.


L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems

Approved: October 26, 2016 | Expires: November 30, 2021

L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc. and L-3 Communications Corporation provide the ProVision™ ATD and ProVision™ 2 (the “Technology”). The Technology is used at security checkpoints in airports, courthouses, correctional institutions, and other government and commercial facilities. It uses millimeter-wave scanning technology to produce three-dimensional images of subjects to detect concealed threat objects on scanned subjects. SAFETY Act protections apply to models of the Technology that use the Automated Target Detection (“ATD”) software and those models have passed field testing by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration.


Alluviam, LLC

Approved: October 26, 2016 | Expires: November 30, 2021

Alluviam, LLC, provides the HazMasterG3®, (the “Technology”) a decision-support software suite for use on many cell phones, personal data assistants, or laptop computers. Based on user input, the software provides planning or response support to first responders for many chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) threats.


The Raytheon Company

Approved: October 07, 2016 | Expires: November 30, 2021

The Raytheon Company provides Perimeter Intrusion Detection System. The Technology is a systems-engineering and integration service that is designed to deploy and support systems that detect, assess, track, and facilitate response to perimeter intrusions at ports, airports, sensitive buildings or other customer sites. The Technology may also include the following: program management, system design, subcontractor selection, system integration, system maintenance plans, testing services, training, warranty and maintenance services, and technical manuals.


Databuoy Corporation

Approved: September 27, 2016 | Expires: October 31, 2019

Databuoy Corporation provides ShotPoint (the “Technology”). The Technology is an acoustic sensor system intended to detect gunfire and report the location through integrated third-party security systems. The incident reports are intended to assist emergency responders with decision making in an active shooter scenario.


Meridian Medical Technologies, Inc.

Approved: September 27, 2016 | Expires: October 31, 2021

Meridian Medical Technologies, Inc. provides ATNAA, Diazepam, DuoDote®, Pralidoxime Chloride, AtroPen®, Morphine Auto-injectors (the “Technology”). The Technology is a series of ready-to-use, pre-filled auto-injectors intended for the treatment of chemical nerve agent exposure or for the management of pain. The Technology is approved for use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”). It also includes packaging, stockpile storage of sterile auto-injector assemblies, stockpile storage of medical solutions, training auto-injectors, and the associated use protocols, labeling, and package inserts.
