Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Lockheed Martin Corporation

Approved: August 13, 2012 | Expires: September 30, 2015

Lockheed Martin Transportation and Security Solutions provides the Next Generation Identification ("NGI") System and Services (the "Technology"). The Technology provides the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services Division ("CJIS") a framework for fusion of multimodal biometrics and enhancements in various identification and investigative technology. NGI delivers automated fingerprint and latent search capabilities, electronic image storage, and electronic exchange of fingerprints to law enforcement agencies and other authorized criminal justice partners.


CEIA USA, Ltd.

Approved: August 10, 2012 | Expires: September 30, 2015

CEIA USA, Ltd., an Ohio Limited Liability Company, provides the EMA-MS Bottled Liquid Scanner. The Technology is designed to detect liquid threats such as combustibles, flammables, and explosives that are concealed in bottles and similar containers. The Technology also includes installation, site acceptance testing, maintenance, and user training.


Harbor Offshore, Inc.

Approved: August 03, 2012 | Expires: August 31, 2017

Harbor Offshore, Inc., provides the Port Security Barrier (PSB) models PSB 600, PSB 5500, and PSB-T. The Technology is a seaborne barrier system that provides physical protection against high-speed boat attack. The Technology also includes site assessment, installation preplanning, system installation, and maintenance training.


High Rise Escape Systems Inc.

Approved: August 01, 2012 | Expires: August 31, 2013

High Rise Escape Systems, Inc. provides the Guardian and Responder. The Technology is an emergency evacuation system that serves as an alternate means of egress from buildings up to 999 feet tall. The Technology includes the Evacuation Suit, Controlled Decent Device, Multipurpose Portable Davit Anchoring System, and Life Box.


20/20 GeneSystems, Inc.

Approved: July 23, 2012 | Expires: August 31, 2017

20/20 GeneSystems, Inc. provides BioCheck™ Powder Screening Test Kit. The Technology is a presumptive screening assay that allows first responders and emergency personnel to determine if suspicious powders contain biological materials. The Technology also includes a Kit instruction sheet

Approved: July 23, 2012 | Expires: August 31, 2015

The Boeing Company provides the Virtual Mission Board. The Technology is a deployable multi-touch display system that enables, supports, and improves operations and training by immersing users in a virtual representation of their actual or simulated operating environment.


Areté Associates, Inc.

Approved: July 11, 2012 | Expires: August 30, 2017

Areté Associates, Inc. provides BioLert™ (also known as the Bioni™).The Technology is a real time, detect-to-warn bio-aerosol sensor utilizing proprietary algorithms that allow for the detection of pathogens and toxins of biological origin. The Technology also includes proprietary user software, operation and software manuals, and user training.

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball (“MLB”) provides its 83rd MLB All-Star Game Security Review and Oversight Activities, for the 83rd MLB All-Star Game to be held on July 10, 2012, and the associated Home Run Derby to be held on July 9, 2012, at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri (collectively, the “2012 All-Star Events”). UPDATE: This Developmental Testing and Evaluation Designation was amended on June 27, 2013, to include the 84th MLB All-Star Game Security Review and Oversight Activities, for the 84th MLB All-Star Game to be held on July 16, 2013, and the associated Home Run Derby to be held on July 15, 2013, at Citi Field in New York, New York (collectively, the “2013 All-Star Events").


Hospital Shared Services dba HSS

Approved: June 20, 2012 | Expires: July 31, 2017

HSS Inc. provides Security Services. The Technology is a suite of security services designed to secure perimeters and prevent the introduction of unauthorized persons, weapons, illicit materials, and dangerous objects into restricted areas. The Technology also includes security management consulting, program management, and security guard operations.

Approved: June 13, 2012 | Expires: June 30, 2017

New York Yankees d/b/a The New York Yankees Baseball Club provides The New York Yankees Security Program. The Technology is a comprehensive integrated security system which is comprised of physical and electronic security measures, tools, and procedures designed to detect, deter, prevent, respond to, and mitigate Acts of Terrorism at Yankee Stadium during Game Day, Non-Game Day (In-Season), Non-Season, and Special Events. The Technology includes 24/7 security coverage and incorporates systems and security practices as well as the selection and maintenance of electronic security measures and the hiring, vetting, training, and management oversight of its employees and contractors.
