Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Vertex Aerospace LLC, provides Security Equipment Integration Services. The Technology is a set of services used for the installation and integration of security equipment applications at airport and transportation facilities for detection of explosives and other prohibited items.


Vertex Aerospace LLC

Approved: March 03, 2023 | Expires: August 31, 2027

Vertex Aerospace LLC provides Perimeter Intrusion Detection System. The Technology is a systems-engineering and integration service designed to deploy and support systems that detect, assess, track, and facilitate response to perimeter intrusions at airports. The Technology also includes refreshment assessments and recommendations, program management, system design, subcontractor selection, system integration, system maintenance plans, testing services, training, warranty and maintenance services, and technical manuals.


Whelan Event Staffing Services, Inc.

Approved: February 17, 2023 | Expires: March 31, 2026

Whelan Event Staffing Services, Inc., d/b/a BEST Crowd Management and Garda USA Inc., provide BEST Crowd Management Security and Event Staffing. The Technology provides physical security, access control, and crowd management to secure professional and collegiate sporting, entertainment, convention, and special event venues. Anti-terrorism awareness training and quality assurance programs are included with the Technology.


Cumberland Stadium, Inc.

Approved: February 17, 2023 | Expires: April 30, 2028

Cumberland Stadium, Inc., Tennessee Football, Inc. d/b/a Tennessee Titans, KSA Industries, Inc., Cumberland Promotional Enterprises, L.L.C., The Sports Authority of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, and Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee provides the Security Program for Nissan Stadium, which is a comprehensive, integrated security program comprising physical and electronic security equipment, emergency planning processes and procedures, and trained personnel. This Technology is designed to detect, deter, prevent, respond to, and mitigate Acts of Terrorism exclusively for use at Nissan Stadium, including the field, seating bowl, suites, gates, loading dock, inner and secondary perimeters, locker rooms, area housing utility and mechanical systems, command center, and relevant parking areas.


Emerson Process Management Power & Water Solutions

Approved: February 10, 2023 | Expires: February 29, 2028

Emerson Process Management Power & Water Solutions, Inc., EPMCO Holdings, Inc., Fisher-Rosemont Systems, Inc., and Emerson Electric Co., provide the Ovation™ Control Solution. The Technology is a cybersecure single-platform control system for unified plant control, monitoring, and optimization of power generation and waste/wastewater treatment plants. The Technology also includes optional cybersecurity services.


American Science & Engineering, Inc.

Approved: February 10, 2023 | Expires: February 28, 2028

Rapiscan Systems provides Gemini X-ray inspection systems. The Technology is a line of X-ray inspection systems that use transmission and backscatter scanning methods to inspect parcels, packages, luggage, bags, containers and other similarly sized objects for organic and inorganic anomalies. The determination of whether an anomaly is a threat is dependent on the customer’s concept of operations, and outside the scope of the Technology.

The Boeing Company provides Explosive Detection Canine Services. The Technology is Explosives Detection Canine Services (EDCS) used to detect explosives in a variety of settings. The Technology consists of the following components: Explosive Detection Canine-Handler Teams (EDCT), Bomb Appraisal Officers (BAO), Canine Unit Trainers (CUT), and Explosives Detection Canine Training Services.


American Science and Engineering, Inc.

Approved: January 31, 2023 | Expires: January 31, 2028

Rapiscan Systems, Inc. provides the Z Backscatter Van (ZBV®). The Technology consists of standoff mobile X-ray inspection systems designed to scan moving vehicles, cargo, and similar sized objects for suspicious objects using stationary or drive-by modes. The Technology also includes installation, training, maintenance, relevant documentation, and personnel qualifications.


Smiths Detection Inc.

Smiths Detection Inc. provides HI-SCAN® 6040 CTiX Checkpoint Computed Tomography (CT) X-Ray Screening System. The Technology allows the screening of airline passengers and others in order to scan and detect potentially dangerous material that could be used to harm others. The Technology also includes associated software; installation; life cycle support (includes post-sales support such as troubleshooting, maintenance and repair; ongoing tech support; ongoing training; service bulletins; documentation updates, etc.); training; quality control / quality assurance / warranty program; manuals, instructions, bulletins and other communications, and other documentation (including technical communications, support manuals, training manuals, maintenance manuals, schedules, procedures, including any and all forms of printed, electronic, or other media).


Cleveland Browns Stadium Company LLC

Cleveland Browns Stadium Company LLC, Cleveland Browns Football Company LLC, JHAC, LLC, and the City of Cleveland provides Cleveland Browns Stadium Company Security Program for FirstEnergy Stadium (the "Technology"). The Technology is a comprehensive program comprised of physical and electronic security equipment, tools, emergency planning processes and procedures, and properly trained personnel, whose program encompasses the entire Stadium property, including the seating bowl and suites, gates, loading dock, inner and secondary perimeters, field, locker rooms, areas housing utility and mechanical systems, command center, and service level garage.
