Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

SAFRAN USA, Inc., Morpho Detection, Inc., and Morpho Detection International, Inc. provide the EntryScan®4. The Technology, the EntryScan®4, is a non-intrusive, walk-through Explosives Trace Portal (ETP) used to detect explosives concealed on the human body or explosives residue remaining on the body after handling explosives. The Technology emits gentle puffs of air from jets to dislodge particles and following collection and concentration of samples, uses Ion Trap Mobility Spectrometry (ITMS®) to detect explosives, if present. The Technology also includes installation, testing, operator and administrator training, and maintenance services.


FirstWatch

Approved: February 10, 2012 | Expires: February 28, 2017

FirstWatch Solutions, Inc. provides FirstWatch. The Technology is a hosted real-time, web-based commercial off-the-shelf situational awareness dashboard, data surveillance, and early-warning software system. The Technology is configured to obtain reported information from various geographically diverse and disparate existing data sources, such as safety and public health databases. Using these data, the Technology performs analytics to identify trends and detect potential threats, thus allowing authorized users to securely monitor for statistically significant occurrences of reported issues that are potentially relevant to situational awareness, homeland security, and/or public health. The Technology also includes hosting, training, and help-desk services.


TrapWire Inc.

Approved: January 13, 2012 | Expires: January 31, 2017

TrapWire Inc. provides the TrapWire System. The Technology is an anti-terrorism detection, collection, and analysis tool and services for the detection of terrorist surveillance and pre-attack planning. The Technology also includes manuals, technical documents, and technical support.


Intralox, LLC

Approved: January 13, 2012 | Expires: February 28, 2017

Intralox, LLC, provides Baggage Delivery System (BDS). The Technology consists of conveyor belts and programmable logic controllers which receive input from screening equipment to properly route the baggage to its destination or holding areas. The Technology includes design, installation, maintenance, and site acceptance tests.


Microsemi Corporation

Approved: December 29, 2011 | Expires: August 31, 2012

Microsemi Corporation - RF Integrated Solutions provides the BIS-WDS®. The Technology is a millimeter wave detector designed to image suspicious objects present on a subject person from a stand-off distance. It can be used alone or integrated with other security devices to create a more complete security solution. Maintenance, warranty services, selection and qualification of distributors, spare parts sales, and all relevant technical documentation are included in the Technology.


The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey

Approved: December 29, 2011 | Expires: January 31, 2017

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey provides Articulated Precast Concrete Protective Mat System. The Technology is a system of protective mats placed on the riverbed above the Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) sub-aqueous rail tunnels. The purpose of the Technology is to protect the PATH tunnel system. The Technology also includes the selection of subcontractors responsible for the manufacturing and implementation of the Technology.


Battelle National Biodefense Institute

Battelle National Biodefense Institute, LLC, provides Management and Operations Services for the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center (NBACC). The Technology is science–to-operations services in biological threat characterization, forensic analysis, and scientific, technical, and program support.


GATE SAFE, Inc

Approved: December 22, 2011 | Expires: January 31, 2017

Gate Safe, Inc. provides Cargo Screening Services at TSA Certified Cargo Screening Facilities (CCSF). The Technology consists of screeners who provide cargo screening services to CCSFs that have received certification from the TSA. The Technology also includes employee training and vetting in accordance with TSA program guidelines.


G4S Technology LLC (f/k/a Adesta LLC) and G4S LP (f/ka Adesta LP)

Approved: December 22, 2011 | Expires: January 31, 2017

G4S Technology LLC (f/k/a Adesta LLC) and G4S LP (f/ka Adesta LP) provide Physical /Electronic Security Solutions. The Technology provides design, engineering, construction, and maintenance services of electronic and physical security measures for the anti-terrorism protection of public and commercial infrastructure. The Technology may include installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV), access control, physical security methods, intrusion detection systems, and communications and monitoring systems. The Technology also includes work products such as recommendations, reports, and all attendant manuals and technical documentation.


Lockheed Martin Corporation

Lockheed Martin Corporation provides Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Services for Third-Party Sensors. The Technology is operations and maintenance support for vehicle and pedestrian portals for radiation detection, assistance for radiological portal calibration, and repairs on customer-owned or managed detection equipment.
