Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Corporation provides the Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide (VHP) Room Sterilization System. The technology consists of a delivery device, the VHP(r)/VaproSure(tm) Sterilizer, and the EPA registered solution, Vaprox(r) Sterilant. The system can be used to sterilize dry, pre-cleaned and exposed porous and non-porous surfaces following biological contamination in an enclosed space. Several services such as on-site operator training and certification for customers, equipment maintenance, and fumigation management plan examples are provided. If desired, STERIS trained and certified employees can be attained to carry out sterilization programs.


Washington Group International, Inc.: Design, Integration, Construction, Communication, and Engineering (DICCE) Services

Washington Group International, Inc., provides the Design, Integration, Construction, Communication, and Engineering (DICCE) Services. The Technology is a set of services that are used to install commercially available radiation detection portal monitors with associated equipment at selected international border crossings, airports, and seaports. Washington Group International, Inc., manages all services in accordance with the customer’s scope of work.


Berry Plastics Holding Corporation: Explosion Blast Barrier (Blast Barrier)

Berry Plastics Holding Corporation provides the Explosion Blast Barrier (Blast Barrier). The Technology is designed to provide support to the interior face of an exterior wall to prevent flying debris from injuring those within the building. It will also prevent possible catastrophic failure of the wall in the event of exposure to an explosive force.


Avir, L.L.C.: Totally Optical Vapor Analyzer™ (TOVATM)

Avir, L.L.C. provides the Totally Optical Vapor AnalyzerTM(TOVATM). The Technology is a device that uses and Infra-Red source and sensor to detect and identify hazardous airborne chemicals (e.g., toxic industry chemicals and chemical warfare agents.


DRS Technologies, Inc.: Modular Area Surveillance System (MASS) and MSTAR Radar

DRS Technologies, Inc. provides the Modular Area Surveillance System (MASS), a set of integrated sensors, radars, communications equipment, and Command and Control (C2) capabilities to provide an integrated surveillance solution. This designation also includes the MSTAR radar system, a self-contained ground surveillance radar system that provides wide-area surveillance coverage in all weather conditions.


Lockheed Martin Corporation: Biometric Credentialing Systems & Services (BCS&S)

Lockheed Martin Corporation provides its Biometric Credentialing Systems & Services (BCS&S), an integrated system of hardware and software which provide a biometric credentialing capability that assists the customer in identifying and authenticating the identity of a personal identify verification card, thereby preventing unauthorized access of secured areas.


SFI Electronics, Inc.: Security System Integration Services

Security Forces, Inc. provides its Security System Integration Services, a suite of services which include Access Control Systems, Closed-Circuit Television Systems, Electronically-Controlled Barriers, Intrusion Detection Systems, Photo Identification Management Systems, and Command and Control Systems. These integrated services are designed to deter, prevent, detect, and respond to a variety of security threats, including acts of terrorism.


Cross Match Technologies, Inc.: Cross Match Live Scan Suite

Cross Match Technologies, Inc., provides its Cross Match Live Scan Suite System. Cross Match offers a range of hardware and software technologies for the optical capture and software processing of finger, palm, and full-hand prints for identification purposes.


Building Security Council: Building Security Rating Program

The Building Security Council provides the Building Security Rating Program, a systematic methodology that incorporates existing industry best practices and guidelines for building security and terrorism resilience into an algorithm for assigning a rating to a facility.


20/20 GeneSystems, Inc.: BioCheck Powder Screening Test Kit

20/20 Gene Systems, Inc., provides the BioCheck Powder Screening Test Kit, which allows first responders and emergency personnel to determine if suspicious powders contain biological materials. The Technology tests for the presence of a biomolecule found in all living organisms (including bio warwafe agents and the components derived from them) and a second component determines the pH of the test subject to further characterize the suspicious material.
