Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Approved: February 10, 2012 | Expires: February 28, 2017

American Society of Mechanical Engineers, a New York corporation and an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited Standards Development Organization has developed ASME/American National Standards. ASME uses a defined, repeatable Standards Development Process to produce and publish standards setting forth requirements for engineering, architectural, and construction assessment, design, installation, and safety as they relate to the prevention, detection, identification, or deterrence of Acts of Terrorism or for use in limiting the harm that such attacks might cause. This Technology includes the following named American National Standards: ASME/ANSI RA-S 2009 Standard for Level 1/Large Early Release Frequency Probabilistic Risk Assessment for Nuclear Power Plant Applications, ASME/ANSI Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC), Section III, Subsection NF and CC, Rules for Construction of Nuclear Facility Components, and ANSI/ASME A17.1 – Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators. The Technology also includes attendant manuals, checklists, and technical documents related to the Technology.
