The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. Analogic Corporation provides the Carry-On Baggage Real-Time Assessment (COBRA), an automated explosives and weapons detection system for the screening of carry-on items at screening checkpoints. The Technology uses volumetric Computer Tomography (CT)-based Xrays and detection algorithms to scan evaluate objects and detects a variety of threats, and displays high-resolution, 3-D bag images for on-screen resolution.
