Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Battelle National Biodefense Institute Approved: March 25, 2022 | Expires: April 30, 2027 The Technology consists of Management and Operations (M&O) Services for the Battelle National Biodefense Institute’s National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center (NBACC), located at Fort Detrick, Maryland, which is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center. The NBACC was initiated to study the evolving biological threat environment, analyze biological threat agents, and conduct forensic testing of biological pathogens in the event of a terrorist attack.
Battelle National Biodefense Institute, LLC Approved: March 20, 2017 | Expires: March 31, 2022 Battelle National Biodefense Institute, LLC provides Management and Operations (“M&O”) Services for the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center (“NBACC”) (the “Technology”). The Technology is science–to-operations services for the Federally Funded Research and Development Center designed for biological threat characterization, forensic analysis, and scientific, technical, and program support.
