Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Company/Technology

Building Protection Systems, Inc.

Approved: May 15, 2013 | Expires: May 31, 2018

Building Protection Systems, Inc. (“BPSI”) provides BPSI Sentry One Products. The Technology integrates third-party chemical and radiological sensors, which have been modified according to BPSI’s specifications and standards, into customized Chemical Sensor Arrays (“CSAs”) and Radiation Area Detectors (“RADs”), respectively. Also, signals from the sensors are interfaced with an existing Building Management System via coupling of the CSAs and RADs to a main control panel. The sensors are incorporated into a building’s air ducts to allow for the monitoring and detection of airborne toxic industrial chemicals and radiological agents. In the presence of such threat agents, the main control panel transmits a signal to the Building Management System to enact a series of customer-derived building shutdown protocols. The Technology includes the Building Sentry One system, which is intended for deployment in large office buildings (> 200,000 square feet), and the Alpha Sentry One system, which is intended for deployment in lobbies or small office buildings (< 200,000 square feet). In addition to hardware and proprietary software, the Technology includes: pre-engineering studies and building site visits; the installation, testing, monitoring, servicing, and maintenance of the Technology; and training of those performing installation services.

Building Protection Systems, Inc.: Building Sentry One System

Approved: June 09, 2008 | Expires: June 30, 2013

Building Protection Systems, Inc. (BPSI) provides the Building Sentry One System. The Technology is a full backbone system that integrates BPSI's as well as third-party chemical and radiological sensors along with other hardware devices to create Chemical Sensor Arrays (CSAs) and Radiation Area Detectors (RADs). These CSAs and RADs are connected to Building Sentry One main brain panel while interfacing with the existing Building Management System in order to fully monitor the building air for the presence of chemical or radiological threats and to enact a series of building specific shutdown protocols to eliminate the spread of these threats to building inhabitants. The Technology consists of services such as site engineering & vulnerability assessment visits, installation, testing, monitoring, maintenance and installation training in addition to the hardware and software of the devices.
