Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Garrett Metal Detectors Approved: March 09, 2022 | Expires: March 31, 2027 Garrett Electronics, Inc., d/b/a Garrett Metal Detectors provides Walk-Through Metal Detectors (the "Technology"). The Technology is a line of walk-through metal detectors that use low frequency electromagnetic fields. Detections are made by measuring disturbances in those fields due to the presence of conductive metal. The Technology consists of three main subsystems: a detection unit (electronics), transmit and receive side panels, and auxiliary components. Technology-related user manuals are included. Designation coverage extends to the following models: CS-5000, MS-3500, MT-5500, and PD-6500i. Certification coverage extends to PD-6500i.
