Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Approved: October 22, 2018 | Expires: November 30, 2023 L3 Security & Detection Systems, Inc. and L3 Technologies, Inc. provides eXaminer Explosives Detection System and attendant services (the "Technology"). The Technology is a line of high-speed computed tomography scanners designed to scan parcels for explosives and other potential threat objects. The Technology also includes attendant manuals, checklists, and technical documents related to the Technology.
L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems Approved: October 26, 2016 | Expires: November 30, 2021 L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc. and L-3 Communications Corporation provide the ProVision™ ATD and ProVision™ 2 (the “Technology”). The Technology is used at security checkpoints in airports, courthouses, correctional institutions, and other government and commercial facilities. It uses millimeter-wave scanning technology to produce three-dimensional images of subjects to detect concealed threat objects on scanned subjects. SAFETY Act protections apply to models of the Technology that use the Automated Target Detection (“ATD”) software and those models have passed field testing by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration.
L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc. Approved: September 08, 2014 | Expires: August 31, 2019 L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc. (“L-3 SDS”) provides CR-Mobile (the “Technology”). The Technology is a mobile radiation detection system that is designed to scan linearly arranged cargo shipping containers. The Technology includes: optical character recognition software, Global Positioning System capabilities, customer support, monitoring, maintenance, upgrades, training, and technical documentation.

Approved: August 05, 2013 | Expires: October 31, 2016 L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc. provides Security X-ray Inspection and Screening System (the “Technology”). The Technology is an x-ray inspection and screening system which detects threat objects, including explosives, weapons, narcotics, and other contraband in baggage and packages. The Technology also includes installation, maintenance, customer service and support, and technical documents.
L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc. and L-3 Communications Corporation Approved: June 11, 2013 | Expires: June 30, 2018 L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc. and L-3 Communications Corporation provide the eXaminer System (the "Technology"). The Technology is a computed tomography-based explosives detection system that mediates the screening of checked airline baggage and parcels for explosives as well as other threat materials. The Technology also includes associated technical manuals and maintenance performed by L-3 trained personnel.

Approved: March 23, 2012 | Expires: March 31, 2016 L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc. and L-3 Communications Corporation provide the ProVision™ SC-100 (also known as the Scout 100) and ProVision™ 360 (also known as the SafeScout™ 360). The Technology is line of security portals that use millimeter-wave scanning technology to produce three-dimensional images of subjects to detect threat objects. The Technology also includes training, installation, maintenance services, manuals, and technical documents. Certification applies only to the ProVision™ SC-100.

The Technology is a line of security portals that use millimeter-wave scanning technology to produce three-dimensional images of subjects to detect threat objects. The Technology also includes training, installation, maintenance services, manuals, and technical documents.
L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc.: eXaminer System Approved: June 02, 2008 | Expires: June 30, 2013 L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc. provides the eXaminer System. The Technology is a system that uses a high-speed computed tomography scanner to image parcels. This makes it possible for parcels to be inspected for explosives and other hazardous materials in a continuous manner. When a potential threat is spotted, the Technology alerts the operator, and the operator for ultimate determination as to whether or not the threat is real. The Technology consists of a variety of hardware, software, and services including but not limited to several models of the detection system, image analysis system, and integration services.
