Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

The Technology provides a capability for tracking of vessels in coastal maritime and land border areas to detect possible threats of harm by automating the detection of suspicious activity, providing support in the interdiction process, and by supporting post incident analysis and forensic investigations. The Technology also includes design, software development, testing, training, and maintenance support services.

Lockheed Martin Corporation provides the Biological Aerosol Warning System (“BAWS” or the “Technology”). The Technology is a networked array of single-point sensor nodes that can alert a user to the presence of biological particulates. The Technology includes: operational and maintenance training; and systems engineering and integration services for the design, development, and deployment of the Technology.

Lockheed Martin Corporation provides the Federal Bureau of Investigation with the Next Generation Identification System and Services (the “Technology”). The Technology is a multi-modal biometric identification capability that assists Federal, State, and local law enforcement authorities in investigating, detecting, preventing, or otherwise countering terrorism and other criminal activity. The Technology entails the processes and procedures used for the selection, testing, and integration of commercial off-the-shelf items used as part of the Technology. The Technology includes hiring, vetting, and training of qualified personnel.

Lockheed Martin Corporation provides Gyrocam (the “Technology”). The Technology is a customizable optical surveillance system used to survey an area for, and detect, potential threat items or people. The Technology also includes systems design and integration, installation, maintenance, and training.

Lockheed Martin Corporation provides Biometric Credentialing Systems & Services. The Technology integrates products (hardware and software) and services that provide a biometric credentialing capability that assists the customer in identifying and authenticating the identity of the holder of a Personal Identity Verification (“PIV”) card. The Technology includes the collection, maintenance, management, and transmission of biographical and biometric information for the production, issuance, and activation of a PIV card, the PIV card itself, and related training and customer support. The development of Concept of Operations (“CONOPS”) associated with the Technology’s use, as well as the use of such CONOPS in deploying the Technology so as to help ensure the Technology’s effectiveness, is the responsibility of the customer.

The Technology provides the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services Division ("CJIS") a framework for fusion of multimodal biometrics and enhancements in various identification and investigative technology. NGI delivers automated fingerprint and latent search capabilities, electronic image storage, and electronic exchange of fingerprints to law enforcement agencies and other authorized criminal justice partners.

Lockheed Martin Corporation provides Security System Engineering Process. The Technology is a suite of services to design, develop, install, and support a “turnkey” integrated security system that can assist the customer in addressing identified vulnerabilities and to protect critical infrastructure. Lockheed Martin Corporation provides Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Services for Third-Party Sensors. The Technology is operations and maintenance support for vehicle and pedestrian portals for radiation detection, assistance for radiological portal calibration, and repairs on customer-owned or managed detection equipment.

Lockheed Martin Corporation provides Systems Engineering and Integrated Services (SE&IS) for the Security Command/Control/Communications System (IESS/C3). The Technology is a set of methodologies and processes used to support the IESSC/C3 system. The processes pertain to services such as design, development, installation, testing, training, and maintenance.
