Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. The Technology is a collection of X-ray inspection systems used to screen cargo and freight packages. The devices use transmission X-ray imaging methodology, together with software-based image analysis, to detect potential threats and present them to the operator through a graphical interface. The Technology also includes software, installation, life cycle support, training, warrantee program, manuals, bulletins, and other communications.

The Technology is a product line of automated X-ray-based screening equipment that allows for the detection of potential threat objects or substances (e.g., explosives) in scanned items. Information is presented to the operator via a graphical user interface. The Technology also includes installation, maintenance, and training services as well as the technical documents and manuals related to these services and the operation of the Technology.

The Technology is a portable biological agent identification instrument used to screen suspicious powders for bacterial and viral biological warfare agents. The Technology uses LATE-PCR (Linear After The Exponential-Polymerase Chain Reaction) to replicate a specific genomic region from a target bacterial or viral agent and attaches a fluorophore to the newly replicated genetic material to allow for detection. The Technology can perform up to six distinct assays simultaneously. Included in the Technology are single-use assay cartridges for performing assays as well as operator training, training materials, maintenance services, technical documents and manuals, and a warranty.
