Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Universal Protection Service d/b/a Allied Universal Approved: February 23, 2024 | Expires: February 28, 2029 Universal Protection Service, LP d/b/a Allied Universal Security Services; Universal Protection Service, LLC d/b/a Allied Universal Security Services, Universal Protection Service of Seattle, LLC, AlliedBarton Security Services LLC, AlliedBarton (NC) LLC, and Guardsmark (Puerto Rico), LLC; and AlliedBarton Security Services LP provides the Anti-Terrorism Security Services Program. The Technology is a set of security services which are designed to deter, respond to, detect and mitigate acts of terrorism and the damage they might cause, and includes armed and unarmed security officers and supervisory personnel that receive enhanced anti-terrorism training. The expertise and training of the security officers and supervisors is commensurate with the customer’s level of service a required, and security officer requirements are determined by site-specific post orders. The Technology is specific to the customers who have selected to use the Anti-Terrorism Security Services Program, and it does not include deployments to or inside correctional facilities, or transportation of prisoners or detainees to or from correctional facilities.

The Technology is physical security project management, and trained, unarmed security officers, at shopping mall facilities throughout the United States. The Technology includes security operations supported by onsite management and regional offices.
Universal Protection Service d/b/a Allied Universal Approved: March 31, 2020 | Expires: March 31, 2022 Universal Protection Service, LP d/b/a Allied Universal Security Services; Universal Protection Service, LLC d/b/a Allied Universal Security Services; Universal Protection Service of Seattle, LLC; AlliedBarton Security Services LLC; AlliedBarton (NC) LLC; Guardsmark (Puerto Rico), LLC; and AlliedBarton Security Services LP provide Anti-Terrorism Security Services (the "Technology"). The Technology is a private security officer service offering within the larger Allied Universal organization. It is designed specifically for those customers requiring armed or unarmed security officers who are trained with an additional emphasis on anti-terrorism tactics.

The Technology provides physical security project management, and trained, unarmed security officers, at shopping mall facilities throughout the United States. The Technology includes security operations supported by on-site management and regional offices.
Universal Thrive Technologies, LLC d/b/a/ THRIVE Intelligence Approved: February 16, 2017 | Expires: March 31, 2020 Universal Thrive Technologies, LLC d/b/a/ THRIVE Intelligence, Universal Protection Service, LP, d/b/a/ Allied Universal Security Services, and Universal Protection Service, LLC, d/b/a/ Allied Universal Security Services provides Operational Intelligence Monitoring and Response Services (the “Technology”). The Technology is commercial-off-the-shelf equipment and software to provide traditional alarm monitoring (fire, burglary, and intrusion alarms) and video monitoring services. The Technology also uses commercial-off-the-shelf equipment and software to provide event-based and non-event-based video monitoring using video analytic software. The Technology includes numerous components of both Traditional Central Station Alarm Monitoring Services and Video Monitoring Services, as well as intelligence gathering, initial service-needs assessments at customer location, and the selection of commercial-off-the-shelf hardware and software and subcontractors.

The Technology consists of physical security project management and trained security officers at retail commercial facilities. The Technology also includes training manuals, guides, and other materials.
Universal Approved: February 03, 2015 | Expires: February 29, 2020 Universal Protection Service, LP, Universal Protective Service, LLC, and United Security, LLC d/b/a Universal Protection Service (together “Universal”), provide Security and Guard Services (the “Technology”). The Technology provides unarmed security guard services and is designed to deter, prevent, detect, alert, and respond to a variety of security threats at commercial buildings, industrial/manufacturing complexes, and healthcare facilities. The Technology includes: pre-deployment security assessments, customer training programs, and emergency preparedness services.
Universal Protection Service, LLC and Universal Protection Service, LP Approved: August 22, 2014 | Expires: December 31, 2015 Universal Protection Service, LLC and Universal Protection Service, LP provide unarmed physical security officers at shopping malls and other retail facilities as its Shopping Mall Security Services (the “Technology”). The Technology includes the following services: access control, security patrols (interior and exterior), guard training, alarm system monitoring, emergency response and reporting, production of training and technical manuals, video monitoring, physical security site surveys, and the qualification, training, and deployment of personnel.
Universal Protection Service Approved: June 03, 2011 | Expires: January 31, 2015 Universal Protection Service provides Security and Guard Services. The Technology is physical security services for commercial buildings designed to deter, prevent, detect, alert, and respond to a variety of security threats. The Technology also includes unarmed security officers, fire/life safety, security assessments, security training, and emergency preparedness services and the recruitment, vetting, hiring, and training of its Personnel which perform these services.
