Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Science Applications International Corporation’s Pulsed Elemental Analysis with Neutrons systems utilizes pulses of fast and thermal neutrons for neutron stimulated gamma-ray spectroscopy technology to inspect materials for the presence of explosives, chemicals, and radioactive material.


General Electric Company, GE Infrastructure, Inc., GE Security, Inc., and GE Ion Track, Inc.: EntryScan3 and EntryScan3-e

General Electric Company, GE Infrastructure, Inc., GE Security, Inc., and GE Ion Track, Inc., all provide EntryScan3 which is a non-intrusive walkthrough portal that rapidly detects explosives concealed on the human body or residue contamination on the body from handling explosives.

General Electric Company, GE Infrastructure, Inc., GE Security, Inc., and GE Ion Track, Inc., all provide Itemisers, which are portable, lightweight, desktop trace detectors that enable the detection of microscopic particles of a broad range of explosives that remain on clothing, luggage, ID cards or any other targeted surface in which explosives might be handled.


MitiTech, LLC: Safetydrape™

MitiTech’s Safetydrape™ blast mitigation curtain system is intended to lessen the number of injuries and fatalities associated with glass shards from windows propelled by an external explosion or bomb blast.


Lockheed Martin Corporation: AN6400 Checked Baggage Scanner

Approved: September 14, 2005 | Expires: September 30, 2010

Lockheed Martin’s AN6400 is an upgrade to the AN6000 baggage scanner.  The AN6400 is a pass-through, conveyor-driven threat screening system, which uses “X-Ray Computed Tomography Technology to automatically detect the characteristics of a set of explosive materials.

Kellogg Brown & Root Services, Inc.’s Enhanced Filtration Unit System is a filtration unit, which operates within a facility’s existing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system and has the ability to filter chemical and biological agents, radiological particles, as well as toxic industrial chemicals and toxic industrial military chemicals.

It can be used either as a stand-alone or component tool for data mining and name recognition in a variety of security applications ranging from intelligence gathering and analysis to security screening.


IPC International Corporation: Security Services

IPC International Corporation’s Security Services provides unarmed physical security services at commercial facilities. These services can include access control, security patrols (interior and exterior), guard training, alarm system monitoring, emergency response and reporting,   video monitoring, physical security site surveys and qualification, training and deployment of personnel.
