Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Siemens Government Services, Inc., provides Maintenance and Repair Services. The Technology consists of maintenance, repair, and technical support services provided to ensure that screening equipment, such as that deployed at airports and other high–security buildings, is available for threat detection and functions properly. Supported screening systems include Explosive Trace Detectors, cabinet X–ray–based systems, Enhanced Metal Detectors, Explosives Detection Systems, and Advanced Spectroscopic Portals. Elements of the Technology include: field and preventive maintenance–performed in strict conformance with manufacturer and customer requirements–and support services for screening systems; service provider training; and technical documents and manuals.


Swissport Cargo Services, Inc.

Swissport Cargo Services, Inc. provides Certified Cargo Screening Facilities. The Technology, Certified Cargo Screening Facilities, are secure facilities established in accordance with directives issued by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for the screening and securing of cargo which will be transported on passenger aircraft. The Technology includes, in accordance with TSA directives, maintaining a security plan that limits access to secure cargo screening areas, training and vetting employees in accordance with TSA guidance, adherence to all TSA-specified chain of custody rules for this cargo, and use of TSA-approved methods and/or equipment for the screening of cargo. The Technology is limited to only those locations in possession of current TSA certifications for cargo screening facilities.


Evergreen Aviation Ground Logistics Enterprise, Inc.

Covenant Aviation Security, LLC provides Private Screening Services. The Technology is airport checkpoint screening services conducted under the TSA's Screening Partnership Program (SPP). The Technology includes screening persons and baggage entering and inside the airport sterile area, preventative maintenance of equipment, and executive security service activities such as Variable Intermodal Prevention and Response (VIPR). The Technology may also include any additional services the TSA defines in its statement of work.

SAIC provides Vehicle and Cargo Inspection System (VACIS®). The Technology is a non-intrusive inspection tool used to create 2-dimensional radioscopic images of large vehicles, cargo containers, palletized cargo, and other bulk cargo. Operating as a density imager against the threat posed by Weapons of Mass Destruction, smuggling of stowaways, and conventional weapons, VACIS® detects threats through the projection of shapes, objects, or densities that are inconsistent with customs declarations and shipping documents.


FirstLine Transportation Security, Inc.

Approved: April 13, 2010 | Expires: May 31, 2015

FirstLine Transportation Security, Inc provides Airline Passenger and Baggage Screening Services. The Technology consists of the provision of trained and skilled personnel to operate screening equipment, conduct pre-board passenger screening, and carry-on and checked luggage and accessible property screening to prevent prohibited items from entering the sterile area of an airport.


SecureUSA, Inc.

Approved: March 30, 2010 | Expires: April 30, 2015

SecureUSA, Inc. provides the FutureWEDGE Series (SU-SM). The Technology is a product line of active perimeter vehicle barricades that aid in delaying the entrance of unauthorized intruders to installations. Included in the Technology are installation, maintenance, and service, depending on customer requests/requirements.

The Boeing Company

The Boeing Company provides Cyber Secure Smart Grid Integration Services using the Secure Smart Grid Common Operating Environment. The Technology is software, architecture design, and associated integration services that provide interoperability and multiple levels of cyber security to protect the Smart Grid Cyber Infrastructure. The Technology also includes technical documentation, including requirements, design, configuration, interface controls, testing, operations, training, maintenance, and warranties.
