Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Midnite Express

Approved: August 20, 2009 | Expires: September 30, 2014

Midnite Express provides Certified Cargo Screening Facilities. The Technology, Certified Cargo Screening Facilities, are secure facilities established in accordance with directives issued by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for the screening and securing of cargo which will be transported on passenger aircraft. The Technology will include, in accordance with TSA directives, maintaining a security plan that limits access to secure cargo screening areas, training and vetting employees in accordance with TSA guidance, adherence to all TSA-specified chain of custody rules for this cargo, and use of TSA-approved methods and/or equipment for the screening of cargo. The Technology is limited to only those locations in possession of current TSA certifications for cargo screening facilities.


Direct Computer Resources, Inc.

Approved: August 20, 2009 | Expires: September 30, 2014

Direct Computer Resources, Inc. provides DataVantage Global. The Technology is a single, scalable, multi-tier enterprise-wide software solution that implements and supports obfuscation and sharing of sensitive, but unclassified, information including personal private information. The Technology also includes support services for developing business processes and obfuscation rules.


American Physical Security Group, LLC

Approved: August 13, 2009 | Expires: September 30, 2014

American Physical Security Group, LLC, provides American Anti Ram™. The Technology is a product line of active and passive perimeter vehicle barricades intended to delay unauthorized entry into protected facilities. The Technology includes beams, gates, wedge and plate barriers, and bollards as well as the related installation, operation, and maintenance manuals. All barricades included in the Technology perform to the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security Standard SD-STD-02.01, Revision A (March 2003).


Takasyu Co. Ltd.:Manhole Cover Security System

Approved: July 30, 2009 | Expires: August 31, 2012

Takasyu Co. Ltd. provides Manhole Cover Security System. The Technology is intended to prevent unauthorized access to underground critical infrastructure by securing manholes. The manhole cover is intended to be lifted using a hydraulic jack and opening tool. A single, authorized person can rapidly (in approximately five – nine minutes) lift the manhole cover.


SAFRAN USA, Inc. and GE Homeland Protection, Inc.

Approved: July 30, 2009 | Expires: October 30, 2010

SAFRAN USA, Inc. and GE Homeland Protection, Inc. (f/k/a GE Invision, Inc.) , provide the CTX™ explosive detection systems — the CTX 9000 DSi™, CTX 5500 DS™, CTX 2500™, CTX 9400 DSi TM, and CTX 9800 DSiTM. The Technology also includes corrective and preventive maintenance services and operator training. This Designation and Certification.


SAFRAN USA, Inc. and GE Homeland Protection, Inc.

SAFRAN USA, Inc. and GE Homeland Protection, Inc. (f/k/a GE Invision, Inc.), provide the EntryScan3 and the EntryScan3-e which is a non-intrusive walkthrough portal that rapidly detects explosives concealed on the human body or residue contamination on the body from handling explosives. The Technology also includes training and maintenance services.


SAFRAN USA, Inc. and GE Homeland Protection, Inc.

SAFRAN USA, Inc. and GE Homeland Protection, Inc. (f/k/a GE Invision, Inc.) provide the Itemiser2, Itemiser3, Itemiser FX, and Itemiser DX, which are portable, lightweight, desktop trace detectors that enable the detection of microscopic particles of a broad range of explosives that remain on clothing, luggage, ID cards, or any other targeted surface in which explosives might be handled. The Technology also includes training and maintenance services.


The Boeing Company

Approved: July 14, 2009 | Expires: August 31, 2014

The Boeing Company provides Security System Equipment Installation and Integration Services. The Technology is a system comprised of services to design, install, integrate, and test security screening equipment used to screen small parcels, baggage, non-containerized cargo, and persons in transportation nodes (such as airports and non-containerized cargo screening facilities) using customer defined specifications (in accordance with TSA SESI services procurement, Solicitation Number HSTS04-08-R-CT1157). The Technology also includes elements of program management, procurement of products and services, design, installation, test and evaluation, and operations support including training, maintenance, and documentation.


Smiths Detection, Inc.

Approved: July 08, 2009 | Expires: August 31, 2014

Smiths Detection, Inc. provides FirstView. The Technology is web-based sensor management software system that offers real-time access to controllable cameras, sensors, and maps using various types of personal computers. The Technology also includes engineering of networks, installation of the system, custom software development, training, and maintenance.


Becatech Inc.

Approved: June 29, 2009 | Expires: July 31, 2014

Becatech Inc. and its parent, Becatech Ltd. (collectively, "Becatech") offer the Watercress System (the "Technology"). The Technology is a protective security surveillance system and service that provides covert monitoring and intruder and attack detection to protect water infrastructure. The Technology is installed to protect water infrastructure, such as water tanks, underground storage reservoirs, and pipelines. The Technology includes customization of each system to meet customer requirements, installation of hardware components, periodic updating of software, commissioning and testing of the system, periodic maintenance checks, and ongoing monitoring of the system (for some clients).
