Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

SRCTec Inc. provides the Lightweight Surveillance and Track Acquisition Radar (LSTAR). The Technology is a portable and self-contained radar system designed to detect low altitude small low-speed aircraft. It can easily be transported, deployed, and set up making it ideal for when Federal Aviation Administration or military assets are not available. A technical manual is included.


Smiths Detection, Inc.: IONSCAN 500DT

Approved: January 14, 2009 | Expires: February 28, 2014

Smiths Detection, Inc. provides IONSCAN 500DT. The Technology is a desktop simultaneous explosives and narcotics trace detection system used for analyzing samples obtained from articles such as mail packages, clothing, luggage, and other materials. The Technology also includes a manufacturer's warranty and an Operator's Manual. Preventative maintenance and operator and technical training are available for purchase as an option.


American Chemistry Council: Responsible Care Security Code (RCSC)

The American Chemistry Council (ACC) provides the Responsible Care Security Code. The Technology consists of a security management system encompassing 13 management practices. The Technology enhances the ability of ACC member and Partner companies to deter, detect, delay, defeat or respond to a physical or cyber attack against any form of chemical operation, whether at a fixed facility or during transportation.


L-3 CyTerra: OptEXTM Explosive Trace Detection System and Services

L-3 CyTerra provides the OptEXTM Explosive Trace Detection System and Services. The Techlogy is a desktop explosives detection system. It is designed through use of a desktop unit, a wand, and a sample wipe to detect explosive related substances on objects down to nanogram levels. Maintenance, customer service, attendant services, quality control services, training services, manuals, checklists, and all relevant documents are also included as part of the Technology.


FloorView, LLC: FloorView

FloorView, LLC provides FloorView. The Technology is an off-the-shelf Web-based application designed for emergency management application for first responders. It provides users with important securely retrieved information such as architectural drawings, geospatial information, and floor plans. The Technology also includes data conversion, consulting, and training services as well as product updates and maintenance.


D.W. Nicholson Corporation: Services for Cargo and Baggage Handling Systems

The D.W. Nicholson Corporation provides its Services for Cargo and Baggage Handling Systems. The Technology is the installation, procurement, integration, and testing of several systems including: baggage conveyor equipment, cargo handling equipment, industrial controls and infrastructure, automatic ID system, screening equipment, and safety and security equipment. The Technology also includes personnel, selection of subcontractors, site assessment, quality control, and all relevant documentation.


Hi-G-Tek: DataSeal

Hi-G-Tek provides DataSeal. The Technology is a combination of radio frequency identification (RFID) devices and specialized RFID readers. These devices are used to detect unauthorized access into items such as shipping containers or cargo. The Technology also includes installation and integration to a remote operating system.


Wackenhut Services, Inc.: Security Services

Wackenhut Services, Inc. provides its Security Services. The Technology is a set of services designed to prevent unauthorized entrance by terrorist into facilities, detect weapons, operate alarm stations, and protect client personnel. The services include armed and unarmed guard services, specialized security forces, fire protection services, and emergency response services. Training, hiring, screening, management of personnel are also included in the Technology.


Walden Security: Walden Security Services

Approved: January 06, 2009 | Expires: February 28, 2014

Walden Security provides its Walden Security Services. The Technology is a set of physical security services consisting of armed and unarmed, uniformed security officers. The services are provided to commercial firms as well as local, state, and federal government agencies throughout the U.S. The Technology also includes all qualifications, recruitment, hiring, training, management, and personnel as well as attendant manuals, guides, and all other relevant documentation.


National Football League

Approved: December 19, 2008 | Expires: January 31, 2014

National Football League - NFL Best Practices for Stadium Security. The Technology is a set of guidelines for stadium security management designed to deter and defend against terrorist attacks at sports stadiums. It includes standards for non-game day operations, game day operations, and threat assessments and emergency plans. The Technology also includes the hiring, vetting, and training of personnel used to provide the services.
