Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

The Technology is a system of devices that provides for remote monitoring of security cameras, access control stations, and intrusion detection sensors. It is highly configurable and can deployed in a manner that fits the customer’s specific needs and desires.


Innovative American Technology, Inc.: Radiation Threat Identification System (RTIS)/Spreader Bar Radiation Verification System (SBRVS)

Innovative American Technology, Inc. provides the Radiation Threat Identification System (RTIS)/Spreader Bar Radiation Verification System (SBRVS). The Technology is a system designed to scan cargo and detect gamma, neutron, and X-ray radiation. The SBRVS is a special variant of the RTIS constructed for mounting specifically on a spreader bar gantry.


G&T Conveyor Company, Inc. and Elite Line Services, Inc.: Baggage Screening Systems and Services

G&T Conveyor Company, Inc. and Elite Line Services, Inc. provide Baggage Screening Systems and Services. The Technology is a set of systems and services designed to identify, divert, and capture suspicious bags. The systems employ TSA provided Explosive Detection Systems (EDS), and the services cover a wide range of functions including: technical design, development of computer control software, testing and commissioning of systems, and maintenance among other things.


SPACEHAB, Inc. :Miniature Mass Spectrometer (MMS)

SPACEHAB, Inc. provides the Miniature Mass Spectrometer (MMS). The Technology is a trace chemical detector designed to detect residues and vapors from explosives, chemical warfare agents, and toxic industrial chemicals. This can be done either through the sampling of ambient air or the use of swabs. The Technology also includes proprietary software used for chemical identification.


Bruker Daltonics NBC Detection Corp.: ARFCAM

Bruker Daltonics NBC Detection Corp. provides the ARFCAM. The Technology is a fixed, wall-mounted sensor which uses ion mobility spectrometry and electro chemical sensors to detect and identify chemical warfare agents (CWAs) and toxic industrial chemicals (TICs). The Technology includes proprietary software which uses and updatable chemical agent library.

Lenel Systems International, Inc. provides the IdentityDefender. The Technology is a software package that facilitates the issuance of identity credentials to accepted personal. It is done in a secure manner and makes use of a modular design. The Technology consists of four components: IdentityDirector, IdentityCollector, IdentityProducer, and IdentityActivator. The Technology also includes step-by-step wizards, secure integration with external databases, and renewal of full support for the shared services model.


Textron Systems Corporation.: Adaptable Radiation Area Monitor (ARAM)

Textron Systems Corporation provides the Adaptable Radiation Area Monitor (ARAM). The Technology is a system of detectors which detect and identify radioactive material. It is designed to alert operators via audible and visual warnings when in the presence of such radioactive material. The Technology comes in for configurations: the ARAM Spectroscopic Portal (ARAM ASP), the ARAM RadTruck (ARAM-RT), RadBoat, and RadPack. Installation and integration, operator and maintenance training, warranty, maintenance services, and attendant documentation are also included.

Raytheon UTD, Inc. provides Vulnerability Assessments and Mitigation Services. The Technology is a set of services that consist of: Balance Survivability Assessments, Defense Critical Infrastructure Program Assessments, Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection Analysis, Emergency Preparedness and Response Plans, Disaster Recovery and Continuity of Operations Plans, Modeling, and Customer Training. The Technology also includes all technical manuals and the selection, hiring, training, and qualifications of the personnel that perform the services.


Life Shield Engineered Systems, LLC: Blast Mitigating Composite Panels

Life Shield Engineered Systems, LLC’s Blast Mitigating Composite Panels are a fiber-reinforced or non-fiber-reinforced polymer and are designed to protect life and critical assets that are directly or indirectly impacted by a projectile strike or explosion. The panels are designed to capture fragments and resist blast overpressure and may be fastened to existing walls, ceilings, floors, or others surfaces.
