Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.





Company/Technology

Smiths Detection US Holdings LLC

Approved: April 05, 2022 | Expires: April 30, 2027

Smiths Detection Inc. provides CTX™ Explosives Detection Systems. The Technology consists of seven models of explosives detection systems (EDS) that use X-ray imaging, computed tomography imaging, and software algorithms to screen items in an automated manner for the presence of explosives. The Technology is primarily used to screen airline checked baggage. The Technology also includes are customer-specific support services associated with the Technology’s deployment and maintenance.


Cepheid

Approved: April 04, 2022 | Expires: March 31, 2027

The Technology is a portable Bacillus anthracis (anthrax) detection system using self-contained polymerase chain reaction (PCR) cartridges for sample preparation and testing. It is deployed as part of the U.S. Postal Service’s Biohazard Detection System, which is a biological pathogen point detection system configured to screen for the presence of anthrax in mailrooms.


Evolv Technology

Approved: March 29, 2022 | Expires: March 31, 2027

Evolv Technologies, Inc., d/b/a Evolv Technology provides Evolv Express®. The Technology is a relocatable, non-conventional Walk-Through Metal Detector that screens individuals moving at a walking pace who do not divest their handheld personal items. The Technology is used to detect concealed metal-based weapons to prevent items with risk of harm from being carried into a venue or event. The Technology also includes initial site survey and installation, training and manuals, periodic software updates, support services, and maintenance, with options for systems integration.


Battelle National Biodefense Institute

Approved: March 25, 2022 | Expires: April 30, 2027

The Technology consists of Management and Operations (M&O) Services for the Battelle National Biodefense Institute’s National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center (NBACC), located at Fort Detrick, Maryland, which is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center. The NBACC was initiated to study the evolving biological threat environment, analyze biological threat agents, and conduct forensic testing of biological pathogens in the event of a terrorist attack.


Houston Astros

Approved: March 25, 2022 | Expires: February 28, 2027

Houston Astros, LLC, Houston Baseball Partners LLC, and HBP Team Holdings, LLC provide the Minute Maid Security Program, a comprehensive, integrated security program that comprises security policies and procedures, and structural, physical, and technological security measures and trained personnel designed to detect, deter, prevent, respond to, and mitigate acts of terrorism at Minute Maid Park.


Garrett Metal Detectors

Approved: March 09, 2022 | Expires: March 31, 2027

Garrett Electronics, Inc., d/b/a Garrett Metal Detectors provides Walk-Through Metal Detectors (the "Technology"). The Technology is a line of walk-through metal detectors that use low frequency electromagnetic fields. Detections are made by measuring disturbances in those fields due to the presence of conductive metal. The Technology consists of three main subsystems: a detection unit (electronics), transmit and receive side panels, and auxiliary components. Technology-related user manuals are included. Designation coverage extends to the following models: CS-5000, MS-3500, MT-5500, and PD-6500i. Certification coverage extends to PD-6500i.


Raytheon Company

Raytheon Company and Raytheon Technologies Corporation provides Security Equipment Integration Services. The Technology is a set of services used for the installation and integration of security equipment applications at airport and transportation facilities for detection of explosives and other prohibited items.


ZeroEyes

Approved: March 03, 2022 | Expires: February 28, 2025

ZeroEyes, Inc. provides DeepZero™. The Technology is an artificial intelligence-based platform that integrates with customer video security devices and is used to recognize firearms in video feeds.


Reveal Imaging Technologies, Inc.

Approved: March 03, 2022 | Expires: January 31, 2027

Reveal Imaging Technologies, Inc., Leidos Security Detection & Automation, Inc., and Leidos, Inc. provide the CT-80, CT-80DR, and the CT-80DR+ Explosives Detection Systems. The Technology is a trio of devices that use dual-energy computed tomography to allow operators to screen baggage and other parcel types for potential explosive threats. The Technology also includes maintenance on the systems when requested by the customer


PSSI Stadium, LLC

Approved: February 24, 2022 | Expires: February 28, 2027

Pittsburgh Steelers Sports, Inc.; Pittsburgh Steelers Sports Holdco LLC; Pittsburgh Steelers LLC; PSSI Stadium LLC; North Shore Entertainment Works, LLC; Pittsburgh Steelers Events Company; and Pittsburgh Steelers Premium Seats, L.P. provide Heinz Field Security Program. The Technology is a comprehensive, integrated security program comprised of security policies and procedures, services and controls systems, and structural, physical, and technological security measures designed to detect, deter, prevent, respond to, and mitigate acts of terrorism at Heinz Field.
