Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Databuoy Corporation

Approved: September 27, 2016 | Expires: October 31, 2019

Databuoy Corporation provides ShotPoint (the “Technology”). The Technology is an acoustic sensor system intended to detect gunfire and report the location through integrated third-party security systems. The incident reports are intended to assist emergency responders with decision making in an active shooter scenario.


Meridian Medical Technologies, Inc.

Approved: September 27, 2016 | Expires: October 31, 2021

Meridian Medical Technologies, Inc. provides ATNAA, Diazepam, DuoDote®, Pralidoxime Chloride, AtroPen®, Morphine Auto-injectors (the “Technology”). The Technology is a series of ready-to-use, pre-filled auto-injectors intended for the treatment of chemical nerve agent exposure or for the management of pain. The Technology is approved for use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”). It also includes packaging, stockpile storage of sterile auto-injector assemblies, stockpile storage of medical solutions, training auto-injectors, and the associated use protocols, labeling, and package inserts.


The Boeing Company

The Boeing Company provides Communications, Navigation, Surveillance and Air Traffic Management (“CNS/ATM”) Systems Engineering Services (“CASES” or the “Technology”). The Technology is a set of services meant to support CNS/ATM systems against unauthorized activities. The Technology includes hiring, vetting, training, and management oversight for the personnel who provide the services.


Mistral Security Inc.

Approved: September 12, 2016 | Expires: October 31, 2021

Mistral Security Inc. provides Blast Containment Receptacles (the “Technology”). The Technology is trash receptacles designed to absorb blast energy and resist fragments of an explosive device concealed within the receptacle.


Emergent Protective Products USA, Inc. and Emergent BioSolutions Inc.

Approved: September 09, 2016 | Expires: September 30, 2021

Emergent Protective Products USA, Inc. and Emergent BioSolutions Inc. provide Reactive Skin Decontamination Lotion Kit (“RSDL” or the “Technology”). The Technology is a formulation for the treatment of skin that has been contaminated with toxic chemical agents. The Technology is formulated to neutralize and/or remove the following chemical warfare agents: (a) nerve agents, including many organophosphate-pesticides; (b) blister agents, and (c) Trichothecene Mycotoxin (T-2) toxins that have come into contact with exposed skin.


Unisys Corporation

Unisys Corporation provides to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (“CBP”) Targeting & Analysis Systems Program Directorate (“TASPD”) Support Services for Selectivity and Targeting Systems Software Applications (the “Technology”). The Technology consists of a set of services used to upgrade, modify, enhance, operate, and maintain Selectivity and Targeting Systems Software Applications in response to evolving technologies, threats, and mission requirements.


Emergent BioDefense Operations Lansing LLC

Approved: August 26, 2016 | Expires: September 30, 2021

Emergent BioDefense Operations Lansing LLC provides BioThrax® (the “Technology”). The Technology is a sterile liquid suspension made from cell-free filtrates of microaerophilic cultures of an avirulent, nonencapsulated strain of Bacillus anthracis. The Technology is U.S. Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”)-licensed for active immunization of individuals between 18 and 65 years of age to prevent disease caused by Bacillus anthracis. The Technology is to be administered and used in a manner consistent with its FDA licensing as a pre-exposure prophylaxis or as directed by the U.S. Government as a post-exposure prophylaxis. The Technology also includes manufacturing, testing, labeling, packaging, and storage of BioThrax®, as well as the associated technical documents and manuals.


MKS Instruments, Inc.

Approved: August 26, 2016 | Expires: September 30, 2021

MKS Instruments, Inc., provides the AIRGARD® Gas Analyzer (the "Technology"). The Technology is self-contained system used for continuous monitoring of ambient air in an enclosed area and, if present, detection of chemical threat agents. The Technology also includes Technology-related hardware and software manuals, as well as the procedures defined therein.


Cepheid

Approved: August 26, 2016 | Expires: September 30, 2021

Cepheid provides GeneXpert® (the "Technology"). The Technology is an Anthrax identification system, which uses polymerase chain reaction ("PCR") to amplify the genes of a given sample. The systems self contained cartridges house the PCR reagents and protect the user from cross contamination. The Technology also includes installation and maintenance as outlined in Cepheid's GeneXpert® Field System Operator Manual.


Visual Defence Inc. and Visual Defence USA, Inc.

Approved: August 15, 2016 | Expires: August 31, 2021

Visual Defence Inc. and Visual Defence USA, Inc. provide VDI SecurEye® (the “Technology”). The Technology is a camera that creates a digital video recording that will survive blasts caused by explosive devices and other catastrophic events. The Technology is designed for both surveillance and post-event forensic investigations by recording video in a self-contained package.
