Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Building Intelligence, Inc.

Approved: March 30, 2015 | Expires: April 30, 2020

Building Intelligence, Inc. provides SV3 (the “Technology”). The Technology is a software-based database used by building managers, occupants, and security personnel to support security identification of vendors, vehicles, and visitors, processing admission and maintaining a record of activity, identities, and objects at a given facility.


LightSaver Technologies, Inc.

Approved: March 03, 2015 | Expires: March 31, 2020

LightSaver Technologies, Inc. provides LinearStrobeTM (the “Technology”). The Technology is a lighting solution that can be deployed around doorways and along floors, and it is designed to be activated in response to an emergency trigger such as a fire alarm. The Technology also includes user manuals.


ServiceSource, Inc.

Approved: February 26, 2015 | Expires: March 31, 2020

ServiceSource, Inc. provides a Mail Processing, Screening, and Distribution Service (the “Technology”). The Technology is an integrated set of processes, procedures, equipment, and personnel designed to safeguard facilities, their occupants, and addressees against mail-borne chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive threats. The Technology includes the receipt, screening, processing, and distribution of incoming mail and parcels. It is deployed in accordance with operational requirements set forth by the Department of Homeland Security. Included in the Technology are all manuals and technical documents associated with deployment of the Technology as well as the underlying process.


Andrews International, LLC

Andrews International, LLC, Andrews Holdings Company, American Premier Security, Inc., and U.S. Security Associates Holdings, Inc. provide Andrews International Shopping Center Security Services (the “Technology”). The Technology provides physical security services at shopping centers in the State of California. The Technology also includes hiring/vetting, training programs, training manuals, technical manuals, training bulletins, and a quality control oversight program.


Smiths Detection, Inc.

Approved: February 26, 2015 | Expires: March 31, 2018

Smiths Detection, Inc. provides the HI-SCAN 10080 XCT™ (the “Technology”). The Technology is a checked baggage explosives detection system featuring a dual energy X-ray line scanner with full 3-D volumetric computed tomography imaging and reconstruction capability. The Technology includes maintenance and training services, technical documents and manuals, associated software, installation, life cycle support, and quality control, quality assurance, and a warranty program.


Raytheon Company

Approved: February 26, 2015 | Expires: March 31, 2020

Raytheon Company provides Controlled Impact Rescue Tool (the “Technology”). The Technology is a tool that is designed for use by Urban Search and Rescue teams during rescue operations where people become trapped under rubble. It uses multiple blank ammunition cartridges to drive a specially designed impact head that applies a concentrated shock load into concrete barriers. Successive impacts pulverize the concrete locally, making it easier to remove enough concrete to create a man-size hole through a wall.


American Science and Engineering, Inc.

American Science and Engineering, Inc. provides SmartCheck™ Advanced Personnel Screening (“APS”) System (the “Technology”). The Technology is designed to safely and quickly detect threats and contraband hidden under a person’s clothing using non-intrusive backscatter X-ray technology. The Technology contains an Automated Threat Recognition algorithm to automatically detect both metallic and non-metallic weapons, such as handguns and knives, as well as explosives, drugs, and other contraband. The Technology includes installation, training, warranty and maintenance services that may be included in the sale of the Technology or as a stand-alone service offering.


Acoustic Technology, Inc.

Approved: February 20, 2015 | Expires: February 29, 2020

Acoustic Technology, Inc. (dba ATI Systems) provides Mass Notification Systems (the “Technology”). The Technology is a suite of indoor and outdoor equipment and services for delivery of emergency warning and public address. The Technology includes both wired and wireless communication technologies, redundancy options, and solar-powered capabilities.


U.S. Security Associates, Inc.

Approved: February 20, 2015 | Expires: February 28, 2018

U.S. Security Associates, Inc. and its parent company, U.S. Security Associates Holdings, Inc. provide Shopping Center Security Services (the “Technology”). The Technology is the provision of security officers, who may be armed with Oleoresin Capsicum spray, who provide physical security services such as: access control, security patrols, incident reporting, and disaster and emergency response services. The Technology applies to the Applicant’s deployments at shopping malls where officers have received anti-terrorism training.


WFI Stadium, Inc.

Approved: February 18, 2015 | Expires: March 31, 2020

WFI Stadium, Inc. (“WFI”) provides the FedExField Security Program (the “Technology”). The Technology is a comprehensive security program composed of policies; procedures; physical and electronic security equipment; and trained personnel to detect, deter, prevent, respond to, and mitigate Acts of Terrorism, exclusively at FedExField (inclusive of the Stadium’s 260-acre property) during events utilizing the NFL Best Practices for Stadium Security and on non-event days. The Technology includes the development of security policies and procedures, and is performed in accordance with the NFL Best Practices for Stadium Security.
