Approved Technologies

The SAFETY Act provides two levels of liability protections for approval: Designation and Certification. By obtaining either Designation or Certification, companies obtain a level of legal protection in case their technology is ever put to use during a terrorist attack. See below for a list of approved technology certifications.

Explosive Countermeasures International, Inc.

Approved: October 10, 2014 | Expires: October 31, 2019

Explosive Countermeasures International, Inc. provides Explosive Detection Canine Teams (the “Technology”). The Technology provides a military-trained or law enforcement-trained canine handler with an explosive detection canine to detect odors associated with explosives. The Technology also includes training and operations manuals.


Bayer MaterialScience LLC

Approved: September 30, 2014 | Expires: October 31, 2017

Bayer MaterialScience (“BMS”) LLC provides School Building Security Assessment and Retrofit (the “Technology”). The Technology is a set of services designed to improve the security of K-12 school facilities. The Technology consists of the BMS design and integration services to install security systems using both BMS and third-party commercial-off-the-shelf hardware and services.


MorphoTrust USA, LLC

Approved: September 17, 2014 | Expires: October 31, 2019

MorphoTrust USA, LLC, provides Document Authentication, a suite of products that, taken together, allow for the acquisition of information contained in personal identity documents, and for comparison of the acquired information against relevant document databases.


Morphix Technologies, Inc.

Approved: September 12, 2014 | Expires: September 30, 2019

Morphix Technologies, Inc. provides the Chameleon, a passive, colorimetric chemical detection device designed to detect gaseous or vapor chemicals and aid first responders and military personnel by identifying toxic chemicals during a terrorist event or natural disaster (the "Technology"). No liquid sample is required. The Technology includes a re-usable armband which can hold up to ten cassettes, each of which detects a particular toxic chemical and can be used for a 24-hour period of exposure. Cassettes contain material that changes color upon contact with specific concentrations of hazardous or toxic chemicals. The Technology also includes a training kit to aid users, operating instructions, and technical documentation.


S2 Global, Inc.

S2 Global, Inc. provides Security Screening Services (the “Technology”). The Technology operates and maintains non-intrusive security cargo inspection systems. The Technology includes the selection and provision of non-intrusive security screening equipment (and its associated software and networking); the provision of ancillary, commercially available technologies and infrastructure to be used in conjunction with the security screening equipment (e.g., video cameras, lighting, optical character recognition software, security barriers); performance of screening operations; recruiting, hiring, training and managing of personnel who conduct cargo screening operations; and maintenance and repair of the equipment.


L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc.

Approved: September 08, 2014 | Expires: August 31, 2019

L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc. (“L-3 SDS”) provides CR-Mobile (the “Technology”). The Technology is a mobile radiation detection system that is designed to scan linearly arranged cargo shipping containers. The Technology includes: optical character recognition software, Global Positioning System capabilities, customer support, monitoring, maintenance, upgrades, training, and technical documentation.


Simon Property Group, Inc.

Approved: September 04, 2014 | Expires: September 30, 2019

Simon Property Group, Inc., implements the Simon Property Security Program (the “Technology”). The Technology consists of security policies and procedures and internal resources created to assist in defending, deterring, responding to, and mitigating the effects of Acts of Terrorism at Simon properties in the United States.


Universal Protection Service, LLC and Universal Protection Service, LP

Approved: August 22, 2014 | Expires: December 31, 2015

Universal Protection Service, LLC and Universal Protection Service, LP provide unarmed physical security officers at shopping malls and other retail facilities as its Shopping Mall Security Services (the “Technology”). The Technology includes the following services: access control, security patrols (interior and exterior), guard training, alarm system monitoring, emergency response and reporting, production of training and technical manuals, video monitoring, physical security site surveys, and the qualification, training, and deployment of personnel.


MorphoTrust USA, LLC

Approved: August 11, 2014 | Expires: September 30, 2019

MorphoTrust USA, LLC provides Enhanced Credential Authentication Technology (“E-CAT” or the “Technology”). The Technology is a suite of products that automatically verifies multiple security features on identification documents such as drivers’ licenses, passports, and other common forms of identification, to further enhance the security of the screening process. The Technology is for use by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Transportation Security Administration (“TSA”) and is limited to TSA deployment.


Sensity Systems Inc.

Approved: August 06, 2014 | Expires: August 31, 2019

Sensity Systems Inc. provides NetSense (the “Technology”). The Technology is a Light Sensory Network (“LSN”) which may be used as a wired or WiFi network that allows for the connection of third party products such as cameras and sensors. The Technology also includes site surveys, photometric evaluations, design, and installation.
